The nerves are natural! You'd be strange if you didn't get them. I found the best thing was finding good support, which I still get now at www.minimins.com in the surgical weight loss section. Also, reading and researching so I was as prepared as possible.
In my head, I am still the obese person I was 2 years ago. Then, I look in the mirroror get complimented and am shocked. My PCT want you to have a BMI of 26, and they take into account the weight of the excess skin with this, so if your BMI is 27 but the skin would make it 26 then that's ok.

In response to:Love/Hate relationship with food.

Hey Shellbell..... sounds like you going through a rough patch, when you think about it you have been through so many changes over a short period of time your hubby too getting used to the New You . it is important that you try to eat again i am sure hubby is worried about you... if you want to talk email me and we can arrange a time to talk it out if you would like ok hugz Jude xx

In response to:7 months and 100lbs!

Aw Shellbell I can understand how you feel you have done so well and it must feel so frustrating having to wait to get the TT done....I guess the time will go quickly enough...its seems strange they expect you to be 25bmi when the excess skin must account for a couple of kilos..wish you luck honey i have been reading your blogs feel more prepared now do you remember what your liver shrinking diet was??

In response to:7 months and 100lbs!

Great news Judy :)

Kitten, just keep your focus on the end result, shrinking that liver! Imagine getting out of surgery and being told that they haven't done anything as your liver was too big! Believe me it happens! I don't think any food is worth that risk. Drink plenty of fluids as it helps ease the headache you get in the first few days and the time will soon pass.

Judy Judy Judy Judyyyyyyy Hia chuck :D You need to check with your car insurer, some say 2 weeks, most say once your surgeon has said you can. My insurer said it was up to my surgeon, and my surgeon said 2 weeks. I went back to work after 2 1/2 weeks and managed fine. I do have a sedentary job though and could have easily stayed off longer as I was tired still. I went on holiday 3 days post op lol. Not recommended! Only to Blackpool and I had lots of people there to look after me. I did Center Parks 4 weeks post op too and managed fine there. It depends on your eating, and how long your surgeon wants you to stay on each stage for. Once you're back on solids holidays should be no problem. Check your travel insurance clauses though as some of them will ask if you've had surgery in the last 6/12 months. You'll be a loser soon so use this time to prepare yourself, learn all there is to learn, and get your head in the right place.

In case anyone else is concerned about hair loss, here's my reply -

I have had some hair thinning, it started at around
3months post op. To be honest it's never been a huge problem, as my hair was very thick to start with. I started taking selenium and zinc and it's thickening up again now.

You will get thinning with any rapid weight loss, but it is only temporary (up to 6 months) and never looks as bad as the sufferer thinks! In my eyes it's a small price to pay for all the benefits.

Have a look at http://www.minimins.com/surgical-weight-loss/ there are lots of band and bypass diaries on there were you can get a real insight into both.

Hope that helps,
